Requirements to check
01 / 07
AI literacy for your staff
Applies since 2 February 2025 · Art. 4
Support the AI literacy of people using AI on your behalf. Tailor training to their experience, the system and the people affected; keep a record of the measures taken.
02 / 07
Tell people they are talking to an AI
Applies since 2 August 2026 · Art. 50(1)
Check that people are informed by the first interaction, unless the AI nature is already obvious in context. This design duty sits with the provider; confirm how your vendor handles disclosure. Building or branding a system yourself may make you its provider.

Label AI-generated content
Applies since 2 August 2026 · Art. 50(4)
Disclose deepfakes and AI-written texts published to inform the public. Texts are exempt only if a person reviews them and someone holds editorial responsibility; routine or automated checks do not count.
04 / 07
Prohibited practice
Prohibited since 2 February 2025 · Art. 5
These uses can fall under Article 5 prohibitions. Exact conditions matter: workplace emotion recognition, for example, has medical and safety exceptions. Pause the flagged use and obtain a legal assessment. The new ban on non-consensual intimate AI content applies from December 2026.
05 / 07
High-risk use: employment
Deployer duties apply from 2 December 2027 · Annex III(4), Art. 26
Use the system as instructed, assign trained people to oversee it, keep logs, and inform employees and their representatives before it goes live. Put a proper assessment on your roadmap now.
06 / 07
High-risk use: credit or insurance
Deployer duties apply from 2 December 2027 · Annex III(5), Art. 26 and 27
Use the system as instructed, assign trained people to oversee it and keep logs. For these two uses, also a fundamental-rights impact assessment before first use.
07 / 07
You may be a provider
Depends on the system · Art. 16 ff.
Provider duties depend on the system: high-risk systems can require technical documentation and conformity assessment; chatbots have disclosure design requirements. That is beyond a seven-question check; talk to us or a lawyer.
